The free iPhone app blocker
Every other blocker has an off switch, ten seconds away in Settings. Bail locks Screen Time with a passcode nobody knows. Not even you. So when you lock in, you stay in.
Why blockers fail
You don't need willpower when you set a blocker. You need it at 23:40, three apps deep, when the off switch is right there. Bail takes it away.
Locked in for two hours. Gone in ten seconds.
Screen Time is locked with a code nobody has ever seen. There's nothing to switch off.
Screen Time passcode · not even you know it
How it works
Social media, games, the browser, whatever pulls you in. Or flip it: allow only the few apps you need. Save it as a mode.
Two number drums, hours and minutes, like a combination lock. Slide to lock in, and your apps and your screen go dark.
Three pardons a month, each behind a 15-minute wait. No paying your way out. Most urges are gone before the wait is.
The lock
Bail sets your iPhone's Screen Time passcode with you, using this website on a second screen. You press the keys; you just never know which.
usebail.com/lockWhen iOS asks for a Passcode Recovery account, use a friend's or family member's Apple Account. Then only they can reset it.
The page runs in your browser and sends nothing. We never see your code, your setup code or your apps.
Bail keeps an encrypted recovery ticket on your phone. Email it to support and we'll send the passcode. On purpose, it takes a human.
Pardons
Life happens. So you get three pardons every month, free. Use one and there's a 15-minute wait before you're out; change your mind any time during it. You can't buy more.
Everything else
Lock in at the same time every day, like every night from 23:00 to 07:00.
Hold the button for two seconds and you're in. No questions, no confirm.
Turn on "Stop app deletion" and Bail stays put while you're locked in.
Automatic time stays on, so nobody fast-forwards the clock past the end.
Block adult websites all the time, whatever mode you're in.
How long you were locked in today and over the last seven days.
Questions
Yes. No subscription, no device to buy, no ads, no account.
No. Bail works as a normal blocker without it. The lock is what removes the off switch, so we recommend it.
Use a pardon. After a 15-minute wait you're out. You get three a month.
If a friend is your Passcode Recovery account, they can reset it with you. Otherwise, email your recovery ticket from Bail to support and we'll send it.
No. Apple's Screen Time gives Bail sealed tokens for what you block, so we can't even see which apps they are. Bail has no account and no analytics, and everything stays on your phone.
Another phone, tablet or computer, or erasing your whole iPhone. Bail makes giving in slow and deliberate. That's usually enough.
Bail is coming to the App Store. Free.
